But don't worry — measuring for custom screens is simple if you follow the right steps. In this guide, we'll walk you through measuring everything from casement windows to entry doors, with pro tips to ensure you get it right the first time.

What You'll Need
Before you start measuring, gather these simple tools:
- Steel tape measure (metal or fiberglass) — avoid cloth tape, which can stretch
- Pen and paper — record each measurement clearly
- Smartphone — take photos to share with our team
- Ladder — for safety when measuring high windows
Use metric (cm/mm) or imperial (inches/feet) — either is fine. Just be consistent and clearly label your units. We can work with both.
Part 1: Measuring Windows (For H01 Retractable & FD01 Magnetic Screens)
For window screens, you'll be measuring the window frame edge — the flat surface where the screen will attach using 3M tape.
Step-by-Step: Casement Windows (Most Common)
Measure the Width
Measure from the left edge of the window frame to the right edge. Record this as your width.
Measure the Height
Measure from the top edge of the frame to the bottom edge. Record this as your height.
Measure in Three Places
For width, measure at the top, middle, and bottom. For height, measure at the left, center, and right. Use the smallest measurement — this ensures a perfect fit.

Snap a clear photo of your window with the tape measure showing the measurement. Send it to us — we'll double-check for free!
Always use the smallest measurement. Frames are rarely perfectly square. Using the smallest width and height ensures your screen won't be too large to fit.
Measuring Different Window Types

Part 2: Measuring Doors (For H05 Folding Screen Doors)
For entry doors, patio doors, and villa gates, you have two measurement methods depending on how you want to install the folding screen door.
Method A: Surface-Mount (Overlay Installation)
This method mounts the screen door over the existing door frame. It's the most common installation method.
- Width: Measure the outside edge of the door frame — from left outer edge to right outer edge.
- Height: Measure from the top outer edge of the frame to the bottom threshold or floor.
For surface-mount, add 2-3cm (1 inch) to each side for the mounting frame to sit comfortably over your existing door frame. Our team will adjust this automatically — just send us the raw measurements.
Method B: Reveal-Fit (Inside-Mount Installation)
This method mounts the screen door inside the door opening, fitting flush within the frame.
- Width: Measure the inside opening of the door frame — from jamb to jamb.
- Height: Measure from the top inside of the frame to the sill or floor.
For reveal-fit, measure at three points (top, middle, bottom for width; left, center, right for height) and use the smallest measurement.
Part 3: Special Situations
Arched or Non-Standard Windows
If you have arched, circular, or triangular windows, don't worry — we can still make a custom screen for you.
- Take a photo of the window with a tape measure showing the width and height.
- For arched windows, measure the width at the base and the height at the center point.
- Send us the photo — our team will design a custom shape and confirm the measurements with you.
French Doors (Double Doors)
For double doors, you have two options:
- One screen covering both doors: Measure the full width of the door opening (from left frame edge to right frame edge).
- Two separate screens: Measure each door individually. For surface-mount, measure each door frame edge. For reveal-fit, measure each door opening separately.
